What’s Happening at Chapel by the Sea
We are a mission for Jesus Christ and we are a church for all seasons-seasons of life- seasons of the year- seasons of our growth as Christians.
One of our Missions is Brightest Horizons Child Development Center. Chapel contributes through the Mission & Outreach Team and with food items. Chapel volunteers help in the infant and pre-school day care center or assist in the After School Program by helping older children with homework. Others volunteer by baking birthday cakes or assist with office work. Our Sew & Sews group regularly supplies the center with bibs, nap blankets, toys and “sew” on. The child development program is nationally accredited through the
Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment and has been awarded the Gold Seal of Excellence by the State of Florida. The program provides a secure and enriching environment that serves the children of low-income working families. The mission of Brightest Horizons is to provide quality development and educational child care for the children of low-income working families and to strive to provide for the social, emotional, economic, and development needs of those families.
The pre-kindergarten graduation ceremony will take place on June 9. Plans are currently being made for the 45 children enrolled in the summer program. These plans include eight field trips to various places to entertain and enhance the children’s learning experience. The center is seeking sponsorships, donations, and volunteers to help make this a wonderful summer for the children. If you would like to sponsor a child for the summer, for a week, or simply contribute to the cause, any thing you can do will be greatly appreciated.
Otganizers are also holding a fundraiser raffle for the “Vacation of a Lifetime” with the grand prize being a week’s stay at Casa Karma, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This is a six-bedroom luxury villa overlooking Banderras Bay. Call Brightest Horizons for more details. Volunteers are an important part of Brightest Horizons. Would you like to volunteer either directly with the children, in the office, or with a project you can do at home? They are in need of someone to answer phones on Monday through Friday mornings. If you can help or would like further information on the center please contact Tina Parsons at 481-2100. You can truly make a difference in the lives of children. “Children are our greatest concern.” Visitors are always welcome; please stop by to meet our kids. Brightest Horizons is located at 10320 Gladiolus Drive Ft. Myers.
We invite you to worship with us on Sundays at 10 a.m. and to join us for any or all of the activities the happen at Chapel by the Sea. Please visit our website for detailed information on our missions, programs or even to hear a sermon at www.chapelbts.org or phone the office at 463-3173.

What’s Happening at Chapel by the Sea
Chapel by the Sea was the first church on our island and remains a church for the community, welcoming all people seeking to know and serve Christ. We are a mission for Jesus Christ and a church for all seasons-seasons of life-seasons of the year- seasons of our growth as Christians.
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
There are many opportunities to use your gifts at Chapel by the Sea.
God’s Table is an ecumenical program sponsored by the Beach Ministerial Association. Members of other churches on the beach work with members of Chapel to serve the needy on Ft. Myers Beach. Many of our volunteers have gone north for the summer and,
we are in need of help Monday through Friday mornings 7 to 8:30 am. We provide breakfast, lunch, showers, clothing, etc. and your assistance in any of these areas would be greatly appreciated. Do you like to sing but don’t want to make a long-term commitment to join Chapel’s choir? Or are you visiting for a week or two and would like to help us make a joyful noise? Our summer choir, which meets on Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. in the Music Room, is informal (no robes). Come and join us; we would love to have you for one Sunday or as many as you can give. Vacation Bible School will be held from June 13-17, for children ages 3-12. There are many opportunities to work with the children; snacks, crafts, story telling, music and more. Please contact Melody at 560-2041 or melody@chapelbts.org to register your child or to volunteer for this rewarding experience.
This Sunday, May 15, Chapel will be giving the gift of prayer shawls. These beautiful shawls are the handiwork of our Sew & Sews group. There will be a special dedication as part of our worship service. The blessed shawls will then be delivered to our homebound members by our parish nurse, Sheila Morales. This is a very meaningful gift to those who are no longer able to attend worship.
Sunday sermons are available in a variety of formats; all you need to do is ask. You can contact the Church Administrator, Linda Baldwin, Monday through Friday. She can provide you with a copy of the manuscript or a DVD video recording. You can also go online for a manuscript or to listen to an audio recording. Just go to www.chapelbts.org and click “sermons” on the menu bar. You can also view a video of the sermon and portions of the service. Audio recordings are available through iTunes.
Wish to join Chapel by the Sea? Our next new member meeting will be held on August 7, immediately following worship. If you wish to join, please contact the Pastor. For further information please call the office at 463-3173 or check out our website www.chapelbts.org.

There is a change of season happening on Fort Myers Beach as we see our friends, families, and visitors returning to their northern homes. We have enjoyed having you worship with us and invite you to return whenever you are able; we’ll save a seat for you! We pray for your safe travel and God’s blessings until we meet again.
Our mission work continues throughout the year and the need for volunteers increases as we lose some of our faithful participants who are returning back home. God’s Table is our program for feeding the hungry and homeless on Ft. Myers Beach. We gather Monday-Friday mornings and offer breakfast, a sack lunch, a bag of canned goods, showers, clothing and encouragement as well as other pertinent needs. This is an ecumenical program sponsored by the Beach Ministerial Association. Members of the other churches on the beach work with members of Chapel by the Sea to effectuate the response to the needy. We continue to make monthly trips to the Immokalee Soup Kitchen to feed the migrant workers. Our After School Program meets each weekday and we offer help with homework, enjoy physical activities and are even learning Spanish. We have several Youth programs at Chapel for children of all ages and we are desperately in need of snacks. We would appreciate snack/meal donations, gift cards, or monetary donations for these programs. Any size or quantity will help greatly! Please call the office or Melody Tibbs if you need suggestions. Our Sexton, Chuck has many “enhancement” projects planned for our campus and welcomes volunteers to help him keep Chapel in ship shape. He welcomes help keeping up with the day-to-day activities of a busy Sexton as well. If you can offer your help for a few hours on Wednesdays, Thursday, or Fridays please call the office. Your efforts will be blessed.
You are invited to join us on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. for worship and Christian fellowship. Children’s Church is held during this service and a nursery is available for children two years and younger.
