Town celebrates Arbor Day success

1 min read

Arbor Day on Fort Myers Beach, celebrated Friday. April 29, was a huge success with 169 trees being sold. The 169 trees total encompassed 47 Christmas Palms; 83 Foxtail Palms; 22 Orange Geigers and 17 Crape Myrtles.

Members of the Estero Island Garden Club were on hand as usual trustworthy helpers as were Jim Carrasco and Gil Poff who helped with the loading of the trees. Twenty-three of the Christmas Palms were dropped off at Chapel by the Sea to complete the second phase of their project.

Also on hand were Vice Mayor, Bob Raymond, Council members Joe Kosinski and Alan Mandel and Town Manager Terry Stewart.

A total of 49 residents participated in this year’s Arbor Day event. Thanks to all for helping to continue to keep our Island beautiful by planting trees.

A special thank you to the Observer for its kindness in getting the word out to our Island residents. The supplier of all the trees was All Native Garden Center, Fort Myers.
