Santini Festival stages Do Wop Saturday

2 min read

Event organizers for Santini Marina Plaza have come up with a festival idea that is a blast from the past.

This Saturday (May 7), enjoy a Do Wop time with a Taste of Santini intermixing with 50’s/60’s music during the 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. festival.

Another “South Island Event” features D.J. Larry spinning 50’s and 60’s tunes all day long as well as an Antique Car Cruise-In from 1 to 4 p.m. The participating restaurants of Santini Marina Plaza will be serving a delectable sampling of their most famous dishes! There will also be 40+ arts and crafts vendors and a fresh fruit/veggie/flower market!

If that’s not enough, how about fresh 50/50 drawings held hourly to benefit the Beach Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Organization.

Event coordinator Bonnie Roberts of Bonnie Roberts Events is encouraging everyone to get into the spirit of the theme-inspired event. She said Poodle Skirts and Saddle Oxfords are welcome!

“We were really kicking around what would be really, really fun. Most of the Baby Boomers on this Beach know the words to every single one of those songs from the 1950s and 1960s,” said Roberts.

For more information, call Roberts at her office at 463-3600.

The restaurants of Santini Marina Plaza will be offering the following:

– South Beach Grille: Chicken Satay, Beef Tenderloin Satay, Shrimp Cocktail, Asian Calamari, Pan Seared Yellow Fin Tuna and Honey Mustard Salmon;

– Truly Scrumptious: New England Lobster Roll, Shrimp Salad Wrap, Ice Cream Sodas, Root Beer Floats, Red Velvet Cake, Seven Layer Bars, Lemon Bars, Cinnamon Rolls and Apple Pie;
