Fireworks committee sets golf tournament
Organizers are looking for sponsors, raffle donations and golf teams for the Fourth of July Annual Golf Tournament at the Fort Myers Beach Golf Club on Saturday, June 11. Tee-off time includes an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The community event will help light up the sky on the 4th of July. Proceeds will benefit the Fort Myers Beach Fireworks, which is aided by businesses and members of the community such as Semmer Electric, Surf Club, FMB Golf Club, Mermaid Lounge and Liquors, FMB Civic Association, the Town of Fort Myers Beach and the many volunteers that are involved in the fundraising process. Hole sponsorships are $50 per hole, while the golf registration fee is $55 per person. Checks can be made payable to Fort Myers Beach Fireworks Fund, 4200 Bay Beach Lane, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931. After the golf tournament, a luncheon and awards ceremony will be held at Bonita Bill’s Waterfront Café. The annual Fourth of July Kid’s Fishing Tournament sponsored by the Ostego Bay Foundation will be held at Bonita Bill’s docks Saturday, June 25. Registration is at 8:30 a.m., and the tournament goes from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be free hot dogs, drinks, snacks and prizes for all the kids who enter. “The 4th of July Fireworks Committee is always looking for volunteers to come out and help with fundraisers and activities leading up to and the day of the 4th of July, such as the the kid’s fishing tournament, golf tournament, selling t-shirts and other celebration items all day on the 4th of July, as well as cleaning up the pier area after the fireworks,” she said. “We are in need of sponsors, raffle donations and players for the golf tournament and the kids fishing tournament.
