Bonita Springs clerk fights off potential robber.

On Thursday, April 28, 2011, at approximately 10:12 p.m., deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Taco Mix, located at 4298 Bonita Beach Road, Bonita Springs, in reference to an attempted armed robbery. Due to the nature of the incident, detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit assumed the investigation.

Investigators learned the victim was in the store alone when an armed suspect walked up from behind. The suspect was holding a metal bar or pipe and demanded money from the victim. Suddenly a struggle broke out between the victim and suspect. The victim wrestled the suspect towards the front door and through him outside. The suspect then ran east along Bonita Beach Road.

Nothing was taken during the attempted robbery and the victim was not harmed. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his early 20s, 5’7″, 150lbs, black hair. He was dressed in all black.
