What’s Happening at Chapel by the Sea
We are a church for the community, welcoming all people seeking to know and serve Christ.
Our Holy Week schedule is as follows, and we invite you to worship with us. April 21 is Maundy Thursday with Communion service at Chapel at 7 p.m. April 22, Good Friday Service is a Beach Ministerial Ecumenical service which will be held at St. Raphael’s by the Sea Anglican Church (meeting in the former Beach Theater) at noon. EASTER SUNDAY, APRIL 24, BEACH MINISTERIAL ECUMENICAL SUNRISE SERVICE WILL BE LED BY BEACH UNITED METHODIST ON THE BEACH BY THE BEACH PIER AT 6:30 A.M. Easter morning at Chapel offers two services at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. We serve Easter Breakfast for everyone in Silver Hall 8:30-9:30 a.m. followed by the children’s butterfly release at 9:35 a.m. The butterfly release has become a wonderful tradition at Chapel on Easter morning. A Cross is adorned with fresh flowers that morning before the butterflies are released. All are welcome to bring single fresh flowers and place them on the cross anytime before 9:30 a.m. During it’s life the butterfly changes into a completely new creature. It enters the cocoon as a crawling caterpillar and emerges as a beautiful butterfly with wings that can take it places no caterpillar could ever reach. That is what happens when we become true followers of Christ.
Our Annual Easter Party is Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. There will be food, crafts, games, prizes, and egg coloring. The Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 11 a.m. All are welcome! Don’t have a child or grandchild to attend? No problem, we can use you. We will need volunteers to help the children with their activities, hide the eggs, decorate Silver Hall, boil eggs, etc. Please contact Melody Tibbs at 560-2041 to offer your help. The eggs the children color will be given to God’s Table participants.
Palm Sunday following 10 a.m. worship there will be a short Service for Wholeness which includes prayer and intercessions for healing. Physical, psychological, mental, spiritual and relational problems all need to be healed in order to find wholeness and fully respond to God’s love for us. Did you know that Dr. Pittendreigh’s sermons are available in a variety of formats? You can contact our church administrator for a copy of the manuscript or a DVD video recording. You can go online for a manuscript or listen to an audio recording. Just go to www.chapelbts.org and click “sermons” on the menu bar. You can view a video of the sermon and portions of the service. Audio recordings are available through ITunes and you can also find us on Facebook. We invite to join us for any and all of the many things happening at Chapel by the Sea. This coming Sunday is Palm Sunday which marks the return of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem exactly one week before his resurrection. Our Holy Week schedule is as follows, and we invite you to worship with us. What’s Happening at Chapel by the Sea
We are a church for the community, welcoming all people seeking to know and serve Christ.
At Chapel by the Sea we have a commitment to Mission and we strive to demonstrate our faith by serving those in need. In our community we demonstrate this by our service to God’s Table, Habitat for Humanity, Brightest Horizons and the Immokalee Soup Kitchen. Will you help feed those in need? All food collected during the months of March/April will be used to feed the hungry here on Fort Myers Beach, through God’s Table and St. Vincent de Paul. An island wide collection is held this time of year at all of the island churches.
Going up North? Before you leave, bring in the canned goods you can’t take with you! The April trips to the Soup Kitchen in Immokalee are scheduled for Wednesday, April 13 and Friday, April 29. Plan to join the Chapel volunteers. The Chapel bus leaves at 9:15 a.m. and returns around 2:30 p.m. The bus fills up quickly and seating is limited, so please call the office to reserve your seat. We also have a commitment to Children and Family. Throughout our history Chapel has made Christian Education and caring for our younger members a number one priority and a way of fulfilling our Baptismal vows. We know that reading, math, and history are important subjects, but we also need to model our faith, beliefs and Christian values to help shape our children to grow into all that God dreams and hopes for them. Our Girls Friday will meet this Friday, April 1- no fooling! This program is for pre-teen and teen girls (4th grade and up) and is held monthly from 6-9 p.m. and includes dinner, fellowship and chat time about current topics, taking care of you, making good decisions, etc. There is also spa time, crafts, or mission projects. Suggested donation is $2 to help cover expenses.
The next KidZ Night is April 8, from 6-9 p.m., doors open at 5:30 upstairs in the fellowship building. This program is for kids of all ages and is held monthly. The fun includes dinner, games, movies crafts and more. Bring a friend…all are welcome! Youth Group will meet on Friday, April 15. This program for middle and high school youth is held monthly from 6 to 9 p.m. Please call Melody Tibbs at 560-2041 with any questions.
