PTO Golf tournament and pre-party nears

BOB PETCHER Community members are encouraged to come out and swing to benefit their Beach school. It’s all about the kids!

The Fort Myers Beach Elementary P.T.O.’s ninth annual Golf Tournament at the Fort Myers Beach Golf Course at 4200 Bay Beach Lane is fast approaching with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday, May 7. Members of the community are urged to sign up for the cause. Only a few spots remain.

The $240 team cost ($60 per player) includes 18 holes with a cart; goody bag; breakfast snacks and morning drinks; drinks on the course (all tips go to the kids); catered luncheon by Nick & Mary from the Fish Monger; chance to win $10,000 for a hole in one on #11; as well as other hole-in-one prizes at other holes (sponsored by Heidrick & Company Insurance & Risk Management – thanks Chris!); chance to play games and win prizes on various holes; fabulous raffle items; 50/50 cash; and lots of fun networking with locals you know or should know in the community!

Many sponsorship opportunities are available to help the Beach students and school in general. Organizers are still in need of hole sponsors ($250 for grand, $100 for executive and $50 for business) and are also still taking raffle and auction donations.

“We have a variety of donations from vacation stays, restaurant gift certificates, watersports, florist, salon package, themed gift baskets, various boat rides, rounds of golf all over the area and more,” said Gore. “All of these will be auctioned off on May 5, at the cocktail party, or raffled off on May 7, at the golf tournament, as well as the Ball Drop where someone will win $500!”

Ball Drop tickets are available. One does not need to be present to win. Chris Heidrink of Heidrick & Company is again sponsoring the $10,000 Hole-In-One prize at hole #11, as well as other prizes for other holes.

Gore said the slots for golf are quickly filling up, so call if you want to reserve your foursome before its too late. Single golfers are encouraged to call to join a team.

“Please don’t miss this opportunity to be a part of the biggest kid’s fundraiser on the island,” Gore said. “All the raffle items are donated by our awesome local businesses who support our island kids. Make sure you check out all the hole sponsor signs on the green; these are generous businesses who have donated cash to the golf tournament to help the Beach School PTO fund special events, field trips, activities, supplies, and other things that our island school kids wouldn’t have without their support.”

Sponsorship opportunities

n Hole Sponsors – all sponsors will be recognized by having a sign posted at a tee or other location on the golf course, and will be mentioned in the upcoming event advertising, newspaper articles and school newsletters. You will also be recognized at the pre-event Cocktail Party with a certificate of appreciation, and be given the opportunity to place promotional items in the golfers “goodie bags”.

n Business sponsors: $50 – Sign at tee with company logo, certificate of appreciation and a thank you in the media.

n Executive sponsor: $100 – Business sponsor privileges PLUS promotional materials can be displayed at tournament.

n Grand sponsor: $250 – Executive Sponsor privileges PLUS a Certificate of Appreciation, PLUS name/logo displayed at Cocktail Party, Luncheon & Award Ceremony where everyone will be seated, PLUS our guest at the Luncheon & Award Ceremony.

PTO annual Golf Scramble Pre-Tournament Cocktail Party

Two nights before the golf tournament, the Beach Elementary School PTO will be holding a Cinco De Mayo Cocktail Party and Silent Auction at Bayfront Bistro at Snook Bight Marina on Thursday, May 5, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Come join the parents and teachers for a night of Cinco De Mayo drink specials, Cinco De Mayo snacks and a silent auction and raffle -all to support the Fort Myers Beach Elementary School PTO! Don’t miss your chance to bid on vacation packages, water sports rentals, boat rentals, spa packages, golf packages, restaurant packages and more. All donated from our generous local community.

Golf tournament sponsors will be honored at 7 p.m. with a certificate of appreciation. Raffle prizes from local vendors will be given away.

Beach Baptist is offering sitter services for kids at a reasonable fee.
