“Free Ride” day bumps LeeTran ridership 42 percent

1 min read

LeeTran carried 15,359 passengers on “Try Transit Day” April 19, an increase of 42 percent over a normal travel day.

LeeTran staff reported helping many new riders navigate the system, and many were pleasantly surprised at how quick and easy their commute was.

“Thank you for a wonderful ride,” wrote airport employee Martha Suarez. She traveled from Cape Coral, made a smooth transfer at the Bell Tower Shops, and praised the helpfulness of both of her drivers.

LeeTran looked at the same Tuesday one year ago, when ridership was 10,814, to determine the increase. Based on the previous day’s ridership of 11,841, Try Transit Day showed a 30 percent increase.
