Beach residents help dedicate sponsored home
After personally sponsoring a Habitat for Humanity home, Beach residents Gerry and Sharon Trantina helped out in the dedication ceremony at 15300 Straight Street in Fort Myers on April 15.
Along with Chapel by the Sea volunteers and Habitat staff, the Trantinas worked together to completely renovate an existing home for a Lee County family. The new homeowners are Juslaime and Prevoir Sylvestre.
A Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties’ home sponsorship is a donation commitment of $50,000. The support of the Trantinas helped to create a home for a family willing to partner with Habitat to achieve an affordable housing solution.
Gerry expressed gratitude to the 12 faithful volunteers from the membership of Chapel by the Sea.
“This was a very exciting project. We actually renovated an entire house in four weeks,” he said. “I was so impressed with the teamwork. They worked four Thursdays all day and completely painted the interior and exterior of the house.”
Trantina also praised Eduardo Patino of Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties for his leadership role in coordinating this project.
Sharon Trantina worked alongside her husband and Chapel by the Sea volunteers.
“It is so gratifying to see what we have accomplished and more importantly that a family is going to have a home,” she said. “My project was painting the outside of the home and cleaning.”
