Local author wins awards
New York Times bestselling author Randy Wayne White of Pine Island has captured the Florida Book Award’s 2010 Silver Medal in the Popular Fiction category for his novel Deep Shadow.
White and co-editor Carlene Fredericka Brennen also took a Bronze Medal in Florida Nonfiction for their book Randy Wayne White’s Ultimate Tarpon Book.
“It is wonderful to be recognized for our efforts,” said Brennan. “A tremendous amount of research went into this project.”
The nation’s most comprehensive state book awards program was established in 2006 to recognize, honor and celebrate Florida’s best literature, coordinated by the Florida State University Libraries.
The award medalists will be recognized at a banquet in Orlando hosted by the Florida Library Association at its annual conference May 4-6.
