Local 14-yr old to undergo brain surgery – benefit March 8 to help
While most kids are looking forward to Spring Break, 14-year old Brandon Wilson is getting ready to undergo brain surgery. The operation is scheduled for Thursday, March 17th at Miami Children’s Hospital, and he needs your help.
The Wilson family, residents of San Carlos Park, has reached out to Florida’s Blood Centers to hold a blood drive for Brandon. Any collected blood that matches Brandon’s type will be directly sent to him, while the rest will be used to replenish the units that he uses during his surgery and recovery.
Donors will receive a Florida’s Blood Centers t-shirt and a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A sandwich.

If you cannot attend this drive, you can donate at any Florida’s Blood Centers location or Big Red Bus. To find out your nearest location go to www.floridasbloodcenters.org or call toll free 1-888-9DONATE (1-888-936-6283). If you don’t know your blood type, the best way to find out is to donate blood.
Florida’s Blood Centers must make sure that all hospitals have an adequate supply at all times. All donations will go to local hospitals within the next couple of days to save the lives of patients who may need immediate transfusions.
