Friends of Mound House set fundraiser
Friends of the Mound House are proud to present the teatime farce Tea-A-Ria at Charley’s Boathouse on Sunday, March 20, from noon to 3 p.m. The play is written, directed and performed by Beach resident Laurie Nienhaus. The cast includes Donna Prima, Carrie Hill, Dr. Sherwood Cooper, Jessie Titus, Joyce Heckman and Marty Senecal. The play is guaranteed to be full of laughs and Jessie’s performance will remind you of Lucille Ball.
The comedy centers on the opening day of Leonie Palazotto’s tearoom and her Italian family, who doesn’t quite grasp the concept of teatime but are trying to help her. Two English sisters new to America show up as well as a most unwanted guest, Enza Malandra. The Palazotto women decide gaslighting is the best way to be rid of her. As the play takes place in the 1940’s, research was required so the hairstyles, make-up and costumes were a joint cast effort. Laurie and Marty made the costumes and Marty researched hairstyles.
Tickets are $30 each and include the show, a full lunch with Charley’s fabulous salad bar, beverage, tax and tip. Charley’s is located at 6241 Estero Blvd. Fort Myers Beach. Hurry and get your reservations, as seating is limited. Call Joyce at 463-0851 for tickets.
