The Times Square Alliance donated proceeds from a recent fundraising event to the Bay Oaks Recreational Campus at the Fort Myers Beach Town Council meeting on Feb. 22.

Surf Club Owner Bruce Cermak, board member of the Times Square Alliance, presented town council members and Bay Oaks Recreation Manager Nicole Olsen with a check for $3262.50 from the proceeds of the first annual Putt & Pub Crawl that took place on Saturday, Jan. 15. Surf Club was one of the participating watering holes and sponsors that provided putting course on its properties. The others were Yucatan Beach Stand, The Beached Whale, Smokin’ Oyster Brewery, Matanzas Inn Restaurant, Gulfshore Grill/Cottage, Mermaid Lounge/Liquor Store, The Beach Pierside Grill and Nemos on the Beach.

In return, Cermak received a silver sponsor plaque for the winter of 2010-11 from the town officials.

Town Council Mayor Larry Kiker said the money should be approved and, if so, would be earmarked for the Bay Oaks Social Seniors.

“Once again, the Times Square Alliance has come to the aid of the town in the form of a monetary donation for Bay Oaks,” he said. “Primarily, this money is going to the senior program for purchases within the group.”
