Bay Oaks will be hosting a yard sale at its recreational center this Saturday (Feb. 12), from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Team Bay Oaks will hold it for Relay for Life. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.

Just about all of us know someone who either has or has had cancer. Did you ever wonder how those people are helped? Let us share with you information about Relay for Life! The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community aid, voluntary health organization. Research started in 1946, and through the results of these advancements, more than 10 million victims of cancer have survived. The cancer death rate has slowly declined, but still, one out of 4 victims will not survive. Donations from you can make a big difference. How? The American Cancer Society helps people stay healthy through preventive education, but once stricken with cancer, victims are helped to decide on treatment options and to locate hospital sites and centers. The organization even provides transportation to treatments if needed. Research is ongoing and includes the very important goal of finding the most effective ways for early detection of breast cancer.

We can fight back but only with your support. Come out and support Relay for Life! Help us make progress in treatments. Help support us and find that something special you’ve been looking for at our yard sale. See you there.

Sale items may be donated to Bay Oaks during the week of Feb. 7. Turn on School Street off Estero Blvd and then left on Oak Street to get to the recreational center. Call Irma at 765-4222 if you need help.
