Beach Art Gallery hosts new Spring Juried Show
The Fort Myers Beach Art Association is pleased to have three new sponsors for the annual Spring Juried Show. Santini Marina Plaza, Fish Tale Marina and Beach Pub have graciously stepped in to sponsor an art association show for the first time this season. The Spring Juried Show opens on Sunday, Feb. 20, with the demonstration by Lana Grow AWS, ISEA at 4 p.m. at the gallery. Lana will be demonstrating some of the techniques she will be teaching during her weeklong workshop starting on Monday, Feb. 21-25. The demo is open to the public and can be attended with a fee of $10 paid at the door.
Member artists will be bringing work of many styles and mediums for Lana Grow to judge early Sunday. Awards for this show will be given out on Feb. 27, at the reception from 2-4 p.m. At 1 p.m. that same day, the works hanging in the show will be critiqued by Pauline Healey and is always an informative learning experience for artists. This show will continue in Studio I until March 18. Studio II will host two shows during this same time period. From Feb. 18 to March 4, the Outdoor Painters will display works created on site during their plein air sessions each week and March 4-18 the Experimental group will show their multi-media non-representational artworks. Both of these shows will be interesting and outstanding displays of the skilled artists of the Fort Myers Beach Art Association.

ART BAZAAR: Student Scholarship Fundraising Sale
Each spring the artists at the Fort Myers Beach Art Association gather artwork they have been working on at paint outs, paint ins, workshops and classes and put it out for sale at the annual ART BAZAAR. Proceeds from this annual event go directly to the scholarships given each April to seniors from the local high school art programs that are going on to study art at the college or university level. A Student Show will be held at the FMBAA gallery from April 5 to 21 with a reception on April 17 to award the winners.
This year the annual ART BAZAAR will be held at Santini Marina Plaza on March 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the corridors adjacent to the stores. There will be no clotheslines this year but there will be new art forms sold such as hand painted silk scarves and original jewelry as well as the beautiful artwork that is always the center of the sale. Both framed and unframed artwork will be available. Don’t miss this opportunity to purchase original art by local artists and help the next generation of artists at the same time.
