Winter Juried Show opens at Beach Art Gallery
The Red Coconut RV Resort is again hosting the annual Winter Juried Show at the Fort Myers Beach Art Association. Workshop instructor Dale Laitinen NWS WW will be judging the works entered by not only the beach art association but other members of the Art Council of SW Florida. Each year one show here on the beach is open for council members to enter and always brings in works of the highest caliber. Laitinen will also be giving a demonstration of the techniques that will be taught during the following week in the workshop being held at the gallery. Everyone is invited to attend the demo at 4-6 on Sunday, Jan.16. The fee is $10 unless you attend the workshop. There are still a few openings available, for more information call Gretchen Johnson at 463-1214. The show will continue until Feb. 17 during regular gallery hours. A reception, with awards and a critique of the hanging art will be on Jan. 23, from 2-4 p.m. at the gallery.
Lana Grow AWS will be coming to the Fort Myers Beach Art Association to “introduce students to new and liberating ideas in water media painting.” She “strives to provide a safe and creative environment to explore without production stress …. and to tap into the creative spirit of the student and motivate their artistic voice” Her workshop will run from Feb. 21-25 at the beach gallery. There are also some mini workshops that will be given by the FMBAA’s own “famous artists”. Fort Myers Beach Art Association sponsored by Century 21 TriPower Realty will have another “Art on the Boulevard” art sale on Sunday, Feb. 6, from noon to 4 p.m. at the office at 2001 Estero Blvd, across from Diamond Head Resort. Twelve very talented local artists will have many original artworks to sell. Refreshments will be provided.
