What’s Happening at Chapel by the Sea

2 min read

We are a church for the community and we welcome all people seeking to know and serve Christ. We invite you to join us for any and all of the events that happen at Chapel.

Our 2011 Concert Series begins Sunday Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. with Kristine Stout, Handbell Soloist. The second in our series is It’s All About Love on Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. featuring Jo List (vocalist), Terry Stewart (vocalist), James Rapp (violin) and Michael Melnikov (piano). Free will offering.

We are having our first Table Sale at Chapel on Saturday, Jan. 29, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you would like to have a garage sale, but the thought of it is too overwhelming, then come be a part of this community wide event. Here’s how it works: Chapel will promote, advertise and provide the tables. You can “rent” a 6-foot table for $10 for the first table and $5 for each additional table. You will be in charge of your own “garage sale” which includes setting up, selling and cleaning up when it’s over. All you have to do is: reserve your table by paying the fee, then show up, and set up your table. The sale will be held in Sliver Hall rain or shine. If you would like a larger area, there will be 10’x10′ areas outside where you can provide your own tables for a fee of $15 for the space. You will also need to provide protection from the elements (we can’t be responsible for the weather).

Set up for Silver Hall will be Friday, Jan. 28, from noon to 4 p.m.; outdoor set up will be Saturday morning. Sound interesting but still more than you want to do? You can simply provide donations to Chapel’s tables. Chapel’s proceeds will go to support our many programs. To reserve your space, or for further information, call Dottie Callahan at 454-1638.

Chapel Chats begins on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. Pastor Maynard Pittendreigh will lead a 12-week study on the Gospel of Matthew.

Please visit us for worship and for any or all of the many things happening at Chapel by the Sea. Checkout our website at www.Chapelbts.org or call the office at 463-3173 for more information.

Our church has published a new book delineating our history:

A CHURCH FOR THE COMMUNITY- THE HISTORY OF CHAPEL BY THE SEA,

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH USA. This book is now available and can be ordered by visiting our web page. In a few weeks you can order it through your local book store or

Amazon.com and other online retailers. We celebrate our founding date as Palm Sunday, April 10, 1938, when we had our first worship service in the first church building on Fort Myers Beach. Prior to that year, however, we had pastoral leadership of a Presbyterian mission pastor who traveled throughout the Everglades in his Ford Model T automobile. This and many other facts are part of our wonderful history, and we hope everyone will enjoy reading our family stories.

We have a lot happening at Chapel this month including our Concert Series and a

Table Sale just to mention a few. Please check our website at www.Chapelbts.org or call the office at 463-3173 for further information.
