The Town’s Arbor Day tree sale resulted in 87 trees purchased, including four Paradise trees, 60 Christmas Palms, three Gumbo Limbos and 20 Jatrophas.

Thirty of the Christmas Palms were purchased by Chapel by the Sea and were planted on their grounds by volunteers of the church within an hour. Drive by; they look beautiful.

Estero Island Garden Club members distributed the trees this year at Bay Oaks Recreational Center to help acquaint the residents with the beautiful grounds. Including these 87 trees, a grand total of 2,226 trees have been planted on Fort Myers Beach since the first celebration of Arbor Day in 2005.

The Town will again be celebrating National Arbor Day on Friday, April 29, with a choice of trees to be determined to its residents at half price. Watch for the articles in the late February and early March issues of the Observer.
