LeeTran to hold informative day
LeeTran is holding its first annual “Find Your Ride Day” for Lee Countians who want to learn more about their transportation options.
The event will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 19 from 10 am. until 2 p.m. at the Rosa Parks Transportation Center, 2250 Widman Way in downtown Fort Myers.
The free event will offer citizens access to a wealth of information about public transit, carpooling, vanpooling, sustainability, and other community resources. LeeTran staff will provide training on how to ride the transit system and how to use its new online TripPlanner.
“Our goal is to familiarize the community with all the alternatives to driving a personal vehicle,” said Transit Director Steve Myers. “That will result in less pollution and traffic congestion, as well as savings that could amount to thousands of dollars a year for each household that makes a change.”
Community groups that will be on hand to share information include Bike/Walk Lee, the Sierra Club, Good Wheels, FDOT Commuter Services, vanpooling specialists VPSI, and Lee County sustainability staff.
The Rosa Parks center is served by LeeTran bus routes 10, 15, 20, 70, 100 and 140. For more information, call LeeTran at 533-8726 (LEE-TRAN) or e-mail rideleetran@leegov.com.
