Chamber golf tournament slated for Jan. 22
The Greater Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce will again hold its annual golf tournament at The Fort Myers Beach Golf Club on Saturday, Jan. 22, beginning at 8:30 a.m with a shotgun start. This year, the event will benefit the Fort Myers Beach Little League and the Beach Chamber Foundation, which sponsors the Easter Egg Hunt, Spirit of the Holidays, college scholarships for beach kids and more.
Teams of four, $50 per person, gets you a round of golf, cart, goody bag, lunch, opportunities to win raffles, prizes, games on the course and, of course, knowing you’re supporting our island kids. Sponsor signs at designated holes are $50 each as well.
For more information, contact Tracey Gore at 849-3603, Jill Newman at the FMB Golf Club at 463-5700 or the Chamber at 454-7500.
Funds are needed for the Beach Little League. Money collected at the concession stand cannot do it alone. Besides the usual costs of running an organization, other costs include the scoreboard upkeep (which a lot of that is donated by Mike Dagnese of MD Electric), equipment and needed covers over the bleachers.
Chris Heidrick of Heidrick & Company Insurance and Risk Management Services has sponsored a $10,000 cash prize for a hole-in-one on hole #11 (might want to start practicing now for that), as well as five other bonus prizes at other holes.
“The tournament will be a lot of fun and we already have some of our regular tournament players signed up, such as Mayor Larry Kiker and Principal Larry Wood,” said Gore.
