Beach kids benefit from parking proceeds
Community support for children continues to flow on Fort Myers Beach.
Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate Inc. Managing Broker Gary Anderson and Santini Marina Plaza Co-Owner/Fish Tale Marina Owner Al Durrett presented a check to Beach Elementary School Principal Larry Wood for the amount of $1,155 at Coldwell Banker Monday.
The proceeds for the Beach school came from partial parking collections at the plaza’s lot during the 2010 American Sand Sculpting Championship Festival back in November. Several volunteers from Coldwell Banker as well as Durrett participated in collecting the parking fees during that particular weekend.
“The money will help us provide site licenses for computer software,” said Wood. “We have several that are grade specific. The site licenses are $500-$600. We are looking forward to make sure we have money for next year’s software.”
Besides the Beach school, the full proceeds from the parking went to two other organizations. Half of the money was donated to the Coldwell Banker CARE foundation, while the other half was split between Beach Elementary and Spirit of the Holidays for needy children in the Beach community.
