No violations found as offenders checked
On Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, it was lights off, no decorations and no costumes for sex offenders on probation in Lee County. All 145 individuals were in compliance with the requirements as set forth in Florida law. Members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Sexual Offender/Predator Unit, Cape Coral Police Department, Fort Myers Police Department, Federal Probation and the Florida Department of Corrections participated in the special Halloween operation.
By the end of the night, officers with the Cape Coral Police Department verified 16, Fort Myers Police 7, Federal Probation 3 and deputies with the Sheriff’s Office 119 sexual offenders. Meanwhile, members of the Department of Corrections monitored public Halloween events throughout Lee County. The nature of these verifications included making direct contact with the offenders and driving past their residences multiple times throughout the night.
