Florida Parks website nets national award

1 min read

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s newly redesigned Florida State Parks website, www.FloridaStateParks.org, recently received an award from the National Association of Government Webmasters. The website, which was launched in early 2010, received the NAGW’s Members’ Choice Award for 2010 and also finished as a top three finalist for the Pinnacle Award. The website received high marks for being easy to navigate, visually appealing, informative and offering accessibility features.

FloridaStateParks.org was redesigned by staff from DEP’s Office of External Affairs in conjunction with Florida State Parks. The in-house redesign saved the state of Florida more than $255,000. The new site features streamlined navigation, multiple accessibility features, beautiful park photos and abundant information, including featured deals and discounts and one tank adventures.

The NAGW Pinnacle Awards are given to local governments for website excellence. This year’s awards drew 39 entrants from across the country in four categories; three categories for cities and counties based on population and one state and non-governmental organization category.
