Bonsai Society holds annual show and sale

Bonsai enthusiasts throughout Southwest Florida are invited to the Annual Bonsai Show & Sale on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 20 and 21. The free event, sponsored by the Bonsai Society of Southwest Florida, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at the Hilton Garden Inn, 16410 Corporate Commerce Way, Fort Myers.

The free event will feature bonsai exhibits and critiques; workshops and demonstrations by bonsai teachers Ed Trout, Mike Cartrett, Ernie Fernandez, and Erik Wigert; raffles; and sales of bonsai trees and supplies. Special features include a lecture on Japanese Black Pine, a drawing class for bonsai imaging, and a scroll class, with authentic scroll-making materials available on site. Workshops for the public will be held both days at 4 p.m.

Bonsai is a horticultural art of growing trees in pots. It had its origins in China and Japan. Information about bonsai and the association will be available at the meeting.
