What’s Happening at Chapel

2 min read

We are a mission for Jesus Christ and a church for all seasons, seasons of life-seasons of the year-seasons of growth as Christians.

As the holiday seasons approach and our thoughts turn to gratitude, hope and joy it seems a perfect time to mention some of the mission work that Chapel is involved in throughout the year.

Our “God’s Table” serves free breakfasts to the needy in our community Mon-Fri, from 7 to 8:30 am. Participants can enjoy fellowship, breakfast, a bag lunch for later, a shower and a change of clothes. St. Vincent de Paul, Salvation Army, and our Parish nurse are also available at certain times to provide other forms of assistance.

We frequently work at a Soup Kitchen in Immokalee where we serve the migrant workers and their families. We generally make this trip twice a month; our next trip is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 29. The Chapel bus leaves at 9:45 a.m. Please call the office to reserve your seat.

Operation Christmas Child is our Christmas mission in which we put together a shoe box gift to share with a child far, far away hoping to send the message that “Somebody out there loves me”. This message at the heart of the Christmas story is being shared with millions of children who are hungry for hope, who have never had a Christmas gift, who don’t know about how much Jesus loves them. It’s easy to be a part of this ministry or any of our other missions at Chapel and we always welcome volunteers. Please call the office for more information.

Don’t forget! Cypress Lake High School Center for the Arts Orchestra will be in concert on Saturday. Oct. 30 at 2:00 pm. Free will offering.

For further information on any of our services and/or programs please fell free to call the office at 463-3173 or visit our website at www.Chapelbts.org .

We are a church for the community, welcoming all people seeking to know and serve Christ.

There is always something happening at Chapel, and this week is no exception.

1. Get ready for flu season: Plan to get your flu shot on Friday, Oct. 15. The Visiting Nurses Association will provide the vaccines again this year from 9 to 11 a.m. in Silver Hall.

The vaccine is $25, the Pneumonia vaccine is $45. If you have Medicare, bring your card.

2. Youth Group for middle- high school ages will meet on Friday, Oct. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Christian Education Building. Halloween Fun- dress in costume or wear something crazy! Contact Melody at 560-2041 with any questions. Bring your friends.

3. Service for Wholeness will be held on Sunday, Oct. 17, immediately following the 10 a.m. worship service. This brief service includes prayer and intercessions for healing. Physical, psychological, mental, spiritual and relational problems all need to be healed in order to find wholeness and fully respond to God’s love for us. If you don’t need a special prayer, we invite you to stay and pray for others.

4. Operation Christmas Child: There are children around the world who have never received a Christmas present. Imagine their surprise when they open a gift box specially made for them from Samaritan’s Purse. What that means to this child is: “Somebody out there loves me.” That message- at the heart of the Christmas story- is being shared with millions of children who are hungry for hope. Each child who receives a shoe box gift also receives a book of the Gospel in their language. There are pamphlets available at the Chapel with detailed instructions as well as shoe boxes for filling should you need one. If you would like to participate in Chapel’s Christmas mission, please contact the office. The deadline for returning the gifts is Nov. 7.

5. A Church for the Community: Chapel is host to several organizations each week such as the Boy Scouts, Bridge groups, AA/Al-ANON to name a few.

We invite you to worship with us and join us for any and all of the activities available at Chapel by the Sea. For further information on any of our programs and services please call the office at 463-3173 or visit our website at www.Chapelbts.org.

“We are a church for Jesus Christ and we are a church for all seasons. Seasons of life, seasons of the year, and Seasons of growth as Christians.”

This fall season we began our “Dinner and a Movie” program. The program continues this Friday, Oct. 8 from 6-9 p.m. in Silver Hall with the feature movie “The Ultimate Gift” (doors open at 5:30). We will begin by serving a pasta dinner at 6 p.m. followed by the movie at 6:45. Bring a friend, the more the merrier!

Chapel offers a women’s program SIS (Sisters in Spirit) which meets once a month during the fall and winter seasons. The next meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 12. We will gather at Chapel and leave on the mini bus at 10 a.m. or, you may choose to follow in your own vehicle. We will then travel to the He, She and Me shop on Cleveland Ave. This shop carries items found in the Ten Thousand Villages Shops. Ten Thousand Villages is a fair trade organization that markets handcrafted products made by artisans from more than 130 artisan groups in 38 countries. Ten Thousand Villages has spent more than 60 years cultivating long-term buying relationships in which artisans receive a fair price for their work and consumers have access to unique gifts, accessories and home dcor from around the world. Our hostess at He, She and Me wants to assure that you feel no obligation to make a purchase. We will have a short devotional at the shop and stop for lunch at Chik-fil-A on our return to Chapel. If you would prefer to meet us off island at Summerlin Square, please contact Melody at 560-2041 by Friday (Oct. 8) if possible. We plan to return to Chapel shortly after noon.
