Potluck kicks off at Beach Art Association
If you are one of those curious artists or would like to beome one,please join the Fort Myers Beach Art Association at the opening Potluck Dinner on Thursday, Oct. 21. Call the gallery at 463-3909 to sign-up and meet some of the most creative people on the beach.
The 2010/2011 season officially begins with the dinner and is packed with great artistic opportunities.Classes, shows, interest groups,workshops, special sales and events continue throughout the season.The season is startingwith the Fall Member Show which will be hanging in the gallery from Oct. 15 to Nov. 12. This opening show is open to all members and will showcase the multi-talented bunch of artists on the beach. It will be followed with the Fall Judged Show Nov. 13 to Dec. 2.
The gallery willbegin winter hourson Oct. 21, and will be openonMonday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m.Art groups such as the Portrait and Figure painters, Experimentalists, Outdoor Painters and Indoor Painters will be in full swing for the season.
The gallery is on Donora Street at the blinking light off Estero Blvd.
Member Artists will be teaching experimental techniques, oil , watercolor,and “finishing paintings”during the season.Famous Artist workshops start in November with Jan Fabian Wallake TWSA. Artists areneeded now for Plein Air Festival. New this fall will be “Paint the Beach…Sandcastles to Shrimpboats.A plein air painting festival, hosted by Fort Myers Beach Art Association, Santini Marina Plaza, Fish Tale Marina and The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce, will be held Nov. 8-14 . An awards reception will take place on Nov. 12 at Santini Plaza. Paintings will be offered for sale in the tent through Sunday. A quick draw competition will be held on Saturday during the Sandsculpture Championship. For information on participating see www.fortmyersbeachart.com.
