Fugitive sex offender in custody
On Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, members of the United States Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force, consisting of members from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office
Fugitive Warrants Unit, United States Marshals Office and Florida Department of Law Enforcement, concluded a multiple state investigation into the whereabouts of a wanted sex offender.
Robert Ceasar Muzio (DOB 08/19/43), a registered Sex Offender living in Fort Myers, failed to appear for court on Oct. 4. An investigation into Muzio’s whereabouts was initiated and it was revealed he fled Southwest Florida and was now in Missouri. Investigators made contact with United States Marshals based in Missouri and were able to locate a vehicle belonging to Muzio. Not long after, Muzio was located at a Motel 6 in Bridgeton, Missouri. He is currently in custody.
Muzio had an active warrant out of Lee County for Failure to Appear – Fail to Comply with Registration Law. He was previously convicted in Oklahoma in 1998 for Sexual Assault on a Child Under 12. Muzio has also been arrested in both Florida and Missouri for Failure to Register as a Sexual Offender after his 1998 conviction.
