Friends for Friends cancer benefit and gathering for Shawn Smith Saturday
A Friends for Friends cancer benefit for local woman Shawn Smith will be held at the Shamrock Irish Pub, 2201 Estero Blvd., Saturday, Oct. 23, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for friends and family, to share happy thoughts and fond memories.
Shawn passed away Sunday after a fight with throat and brain cancer at the age of 47. Twenty-year close friend Patricia Ann, owner of Unisex Salon, shares fond memories of her best friend.
“Shawn was a songwriter, a musician and was always helping everyone,” she said. “She was full of love and life, and would do anything for anybody. She was a beautiful Irish girl.”
During Shawn’s benefit, lunch plates will be offered for $5 each, plenty of entertainment and good times. All proceeds will go to benefit the Shawn Smith Cancer Fund.
“Come as you are. Just be there. This is locals helping locals,” Patricia said.
