Chapel announces concert series

The Chapel by the Sea Presbyterian Church is pleased to announce the 2010/2011 Concert Series dates have been set. Be sure to save the dates for these afternoon concerts. The first concert is on a Saturday but all the rest are on Sundays. All concerts begin at 2 p.

n On Oct. 30, Saturday, Cypress Lake High School Center for the Arts Orchestra (under the direction of Katrina Rozmus) will present a concert with works by Edvard Grieg, Gustav Holst, and Alexander Glazunov. Come join us for a concert filled with peace, creativity, vivacity, and youthful joy! Free will offering.

n On Jan. 23, Kristine Stout will perform as a Handbell Soloist. Thirty seven bells. One Lady. Handbell solo ringing is a fairly rare, graceful form of musical expression. Kristine plays three octaves of Malmark English Handbells all by herself. Employing a unique combination of choreography and traditional handbell weaving techniques, Enjoy her wonderful musical comedy show. Incred-i-bell! This unique concert is not to be missed. n On Feb. 13, local favorites will entertain in a concert all about love. The vocal mastery of Jo List, and Terry Stewart will delight as they sing popular favorites. In addition James Rapp, violinist, and Michael Melnakov, organist and pianist, will add some light classical pieces to the mix. What better way to enjoy Valentine’s Day weekend? What fun this will be! Free will offering.

n On March 27, Dr. James Lorenz, Music Director of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Fort Myers, Florida and current Dean of the Southwest Florida Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will present a concert that showcases the beautiful pipe organ at Chapel by the Sea. In the program will be works by Bach,Mendelssohn, and Franck, three giants of the organ world, as well as smaller works based on familiar melodies. Come and hear this treasured pipe organ in concert. Free will offering.
