Beach kids join national honor society

Five Beach children were recently inducted into the National Junior Honor Society.
Logan Phillips, Annie Salyers, Bryanna Walker, Bailey Faircloth and Johan Elrubaie were honored for the accomplishments and demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship at Lexington Middle School on Wednesday, Oct. 20. All five students are seventh graders at Lexington and products of Beach Elementary School.
“We’re very proud of our former students who consistently go on to meet academic success in both middle school and high school,” said Beach school Principal Larry Wood. “Our staff does a great job in preparing them for the future.”
According to Tina Nordgren at Lexington, interested students for the NJHS program can make application in the spring for the following fall. Their application and essay is reviewed by a faculty council at Lexington Middle School.
After induction, the new National Junior Honor Society members will participate in a variety of community and service projects with current members during the school year. One such project will be the Relay for Life.
Established in 1929, the National Junior Honor Society is one of the nation’s top organizations which was created by the National Association of Secondary School Principals and recognizes outstanding middle level students.
