LOIS POFF Town of Fort Myers Beach Environmental Science CoordinatorKeith Laakkonen views the grounds with Marilyn Henkel, the treasurer/project manager of Sunset Condominiums.

In December 2009, Sunset Condominiums at 6400 Estero Boulevard submitted a streetscape design for Town review and completed its landscaping in two phases this past June.

A total of 18 palms were planted. Twelve Royal Palms and six Christmas Palms were the choices from the Town’s “Shades of Fort Myers Beach” Streetscape booklet. The Christmas Palms are the most popular for residential use because of its attractive appearance and low maintenance. These plantings create a desirable canopy that can be seen from Estero Boulevard and add a definite benefit to the adjacent property, which has been substandard since Hurricane Charley.

You may recall that Sunset Condominiums received the Town’s Beautification Award earlier this year because of their recent renovations including paver installation and, most recently, erection of six new decorative stone light fixtures.

The Town congratulates them on a job well done with their contribution in keeping their property meticulously groomed with great care and diligence, certainly a plus to our Tree City USA certification.
