Pirate Fest officials hold meeting
Ahoy Fort Myers Beach Pirate Fest enthusiasts! An informational Pirate Fest Meeting will be held at Nervous Nellies in the upstairs bar, Ugly’s, at 1131 First St. on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 10 a.m.
Discussion will include updated information regarding activities and entertainment for the fifth annual Fort Myers Beach Pirate Fest. There will be an open discussion at the end of the meeting for any new local participants. Everyone is encouraged and welcomed to attend.

The fifth anniversary Fort Myers Beach Pirate Fest will take place on Old San Carlos Boulevard during Columbus Day Weekend (October 8-10, 2010) and will include hundreds of professional actors and actresses from across the state and beyond who choreograph their performances for months in advance, bringing one of the most exciting events of the year to the Beach. Renowned Acts for the 2010 event include the Rusty Cutlass pirate band, Captain Dan & The Scurvy Crew and Bilgemunky himself fromworld wide Bilgemunky Radio.
Free family friendly activities will include a treasure hunt, costume contests, roving musicians, strolling street performers, stage shows, sea skirmishes and interactive games with pirates. Adultonly activities will include a Pirates gathering and costume contest on Friday night, a leisurely and ongoing weekend long Tortuga Pub Crawl throughout the beach region and a pirate tattoo contest.
The fifth annual Fort Myers Beach Pirate Fest draws adventurers from far and near to enjoy Columbus weekend activities with historical re-enactments, period correct encampments, black powder demonstrations, Sea Shanties and more. Visitors from near and far will witness Old San Carlos Boulevard transform into a pirate’s haven. Guests are encouraged to garb up as their favorite buccaneer, swashbuckler or movie themed pirate character and join the excitement while reliving a few golden days of piracy.
One hundred percent of the profits from the event, hosted by the Historic Fort Myers Beach-Bay Walk, will benefit The Fort Myers Beach Lions, a private 501c3 organization, who is dedicated to serving the needs of those less fortunate in the immediate community.
Event hours are from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Oct 8; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct 9; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct 10.
