Over the next several weeks, the Fort Myers Beach Fire Control District will be conducting intensive fire fighter training, covering current fire suppression techniques, rescue procedures, and firefighter self rescue in the former cottages located on Old San Carlos Boulevard across from the United States Coast Guard Station.

Beach Fire fighters will be conducting hours of rescue techniques, fire fighter safety drills and fire suppression drills.

Thankfully, structure fires are a rarity in the Fort Myers Beach Fire Control District, making this type of training opportunity even more vital to maintain the skills and knowledge of district fire fighters.

The goal of this fire training is to maintain the district’s efficiency, ensure fire fighting duties are performed safely and to enhance and maintain fire fighter’s life saving skills.

Any additional comments or questions can be directed to Lt. Ronald L. Martin in the Fire Prevention Bureau at 590-4206 or 297-4294.
