What’s Happening at Chapel by the Sea

1 min read

“We are a church for Jesus Christ and we are a church for all seasons. Seasons of life, Seasons of the year, and Seasons of growth as Christians.”

The summer season will soon come to an end and the fall season will be upon us. The new school year will begin shortly, and new schedules will be put in place. We invite you to take some time to visit with us at the Chapel. Upon entering our sanctuary visitors will readily notice the nautical theme. Each window represents traditional Christian symbols that teach about our faith. A printed tour pamphlet is available in the narthex. Pastor Pittendreigh has recently narrated a new audio/visual tour which is approximately twenty minutes in length and describes the windows as well as many other aspects of our beautiful church. If you would like to enjoy the presentation, please phone the office. We would welcome the opportunity to be included in your new fall schedule.

For more information an any of the above please call the church office at 463-3173 or check out our website at www.Chapelbts.org.

Chapel by the Sea is the oldest congregation on our island. Chapel started as a mission of the Presbyterian Church in 1932 and was officially organized on April 10, 1938. Our present Sanctuary was built in 1985. We gave our original building to be used by another church in Fort Myers. Chapel has always welcomed all the people of our community to worship and grow together.

Our regular services are held each Sunday at 10 a.m. This Sunday, Aug. 15, we will once again hold our Service of Wholeness at 11 a.m. This is a short service which includes prayer and intercessions for healing. Coffee hour is held each week in Silver Hall, which is named in honor of Warner and Alice Silver, two of our past members.

Chapel offers nursery care for infants and toddlers through age 2. The Nursery is located on the first floor of the Christian Education Building. We invite you to an open house of our Christian Education wing on Thursday, Aug. 19, from 4 to 6 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.

Stop by and see what we offer in our children’s ministry. The new Sunday school year begins on Aug. 29 with something offered for all ages. Please feel free to call the Chapel office for further information at 463-3173 or visit our website at www.Chapelbts.com. We are the church of the community and we invite you to worship with us.

We are a mission for Jesus Christ and a church for all seasons- seasons of life-seasons of the year- seasons of our growth as Christians. During this summer season we invite you to worship with us at Chapel by the Sea.

Psalm 100 tells us to “Make a joyful noise unto the earth.” Do you like to sing? Our informal summer choir practices each Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m. in the music room of Silver Hall for the 10 a.m. service. You are welcome to join us for one Sunday or as many as you like.

We are privileged to have Michael Melnikov as our Director of Music. We have a very talented musician in Michael. He plays Chapel’s marvelous pipe organ on Sunday mornings. Come and enjoy his classical concerts on Sunday. For more details on Chapel’s music programs or for any other information please call the office at 463-3173 or visit our website at www.Chapelbts.org
