Mack: U.S. must not tolerate Iran’s aggressive nuclear development
Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14), the Ranking Republican on the House Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, expressed his strong concern with news that Iran is planning to start up its first nuclear reactor this weekend, and urged the Obama Administration to send Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a message that the United States will not tolerate his regime’s aggressive nuclear development.
Mack said:
“Under Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s dangerous leadership, Iran continues to enrich uranium and push forward with its plans for a nuclear program, while supporting terrorism and building stronger relationships with other enemies of freedom. Iran’s actions threaten the freedom, security and prosperity of the Middle East.
“What’s even more egregious is that countries like Russia are helping Iran in its pursuit of nuclear power.
“Instead of continuing with an anemic foreign policy, the Obama Administration must take this opportunity to show that the United States will not tolerate Iran’s nuclear development, we will not back down from strict sanctions on Iran, and we will continue to stand with our allies for freedom and democracy around the world.”
