Electricians meet for code updates

Semmer Electric, Inc. hosted John Glaser, with Go Maximum Training, who instructed on the NEC 2008 Code Updates on Friday, Aug. 13. The eight-hour certificate course, held in the conference room at Bonita Bill’s Waterfront Cafe, was offered to any in the electrical field who were interested.

Semmer Electric was proud to sponsor our Fort Myers Beach Fire Marshals -Joe Reed and Ron Martin. Among those in attendance were local electrical contractors, Mike Dagnese, owner of M.D. Electric; and Eddie Alsop, Dean Ruban Electric; and Chuck Gagliardi. Representing Semmer Electric was Bill Semmer, John Frye. Jim Varney, Tony Rivera, Harry Cameron, Mike Crystal, Matt Rainey, Brett Hughes, Billy Semmer, and James Rainey. Others represented their companies: Hall Electric, Sun Electric, Young’s Electric, Island Water Association, Posen Construction – Electrical Division and Jonathan Peer – Senior Electrical Inspector, Cape Coral.

Bonita Bills provided a lunch of BBQ pork sandwiches, baked beans, cole slaw and ice tea with a cake provided by the Go Maximum team.

Semmer Electric has a strong belief in education and will be sending a four-person team of John Frye, construction manager having more than 25 years with Semmer Electric, along with Matt Rainey, James Rainey, and Billy Semmer to Orlando to become certified in Commercial 1, Residential Air-Cooled Generators.

Semmer Electric is also proud to sponsor four young men as apprentices with Tri-County Electrical. Jason Bartell is in his first year; Billy Semmer has begun his second term; Jeff Howe is in his third year; and new student Brett Hughes. Upon completion of the four year course, students then sit for their journeyman’s license. Matt Rainey completed and received his journeyman’s license in 2008.
