Bay Oaks offers karate classes

Why should your child take Karate? Besides teaching kids self defense, karate also teaches fitness, a sense of competition, improves self-esteem, mental and physical discipline and, most importantly, it is fun,

On Tuesday and Thursday nights beginning Aug. 3, Bay Oaks will be offering youth karate. Karate sessions will be four weeks long with two classes a week. Karate class is for all ages and all skill levels are welcome with no experience necessary.

The cost is $39 for members of Bay Oaks or $49 for non members for the entire four-week session. The class is taught by black belt karate and Ju Jitsu instructors from Martial Arts Training Institute.

Bay Oaks to offer fine arts class

Bay Oaks Recreational Campus will be offering an innovative new class called Elephant Playhouse, which is an introduction to the arts. The class is for children ages 7-12 and will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays with a special program on Fridays.

The class will consist of learning new instruments, singing, story telling, learning to write, painting, set design, puppetry, face painting, acting, mime, and will culminate in a small musical which will be video-taped throughout production. Different local artists and musicians will aid in instruction. The goal of this playhouse is to promote creativity & true self expression through are youth.

The Monday and Wednesday classes are $85 for 8 (twice weekly) one-hour classes, while the Friday classes are $15 for a 1 1/2 hour class. Snacks and some art supplies provided. If you have any questions or would like to sign up, call Bay Oaks at 765-4222. Pre Registration is required.
