Semi-annual report available on-line
Statistics compiled by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office show that crime continues to fall in Lee County. The first six months of 2010 show the crime rate is down nearly eight percent county-wide compared to the same time frame in 2009. In addition, total violent crimes including murder; robbery and sex offenses saw a decrease of nearly three percent, while non-violent crimes including burglary; larceny and motor vehicle theft saw a decrease of nearly nine percent.
“I am encouraged by the favorable numbers in this snapshot at the halfway point for this year and attribute them to the hard work and dedication of the men and women of our Sheriff’s Office.” said Sheriff Mike Scott. “We remain focused and committed to making sure this drop in crime is a trend that continues.”
The complied statistics reflect that residential burglaries dropped nearly 20 percent county wide, while robberies dropped by more than eight percent.
