Pink Shell to host chili cook-off benefit
The Southwest Florida Chapter of the American Culinary Federation will hold a Chili Cook-Off at the Pink Shell Beach Resort at 275 Estero Blvd. in support of the Harry Chapin Food Bank on Monday, July 19, at 6 p.m.
According to Pink Shell Chef Craig Panneton, more than 25 entrees are signed up for the inaugural chili cook-off. A $35 fee will be required prior to the day of the cook-off. For more information, email cpanneton@boykin.com.
Event officials say the chili should be ready by 6 p.m. for those interested in judging which is their personal favorite or most unique chili. The official judging will also be starting at 6 p.m. and the winners will be announced around 7 p.m. Beverages will be available for purchase at the Pink Shell bars.
Anyone attending is encouraged to bring dry and canned goods for the food bank. Cash donations will be accepted as well.
The Harry Chapin Food Bank solicits, collects and stores quality food for distribution to families in need through a network of more than 170 local nonprofit agencies in Lee, Collier, Hendry, Charlotte and Glades counties, who provide food to more than 25,000 people monthly. A projected total of 750,000 pounds of food are distributed monthly. In the past fiscal year, The Harry Chapin Food Bank distributed more than nine million pounds of food and other grocery products.
