To the editor:

Gov. Crist’s decision to call lawmakers back into session to vote on adding a referendum for a constitutional amendment in the November election smacks of politics as usual.

First off, offshore drilling is already prohibited by Florida statute. Secondly, Crist knows that 60 percent of the voters do not back amendment. This is simply a ploy to try and get more independents and democrats to turn out in November. Without them, Crist doesn’t stand a chance of winning his bid for the Senate.
