Free paddleboard demo at Bowditch

1 min read

In honor of National Parks and Recreation Month, Paddleboard SWFL will host a free paddleboard demonstration at Bowditch Point Park on Sunday, July 25, from 8 to 10 a.m., weather permitting.

“We want to expose as many people as possible to this amazing activity,” said Lauren Sheppard of Paddleboard SWFL. “Paddleboarding is a great way to explore many of Lee County’s parks and a fabulous way to see wildlife.

According to Sheppard, paddleboarding is a sport that doesn’t discriminate based on age or ability.

“First timers usually describe paddleboarding as incredibly stable and eas,” she said. “It’s an amazing workout and a great way to experience the outdoors.”

Anyone interested in trying paddleboarding should arrive early since Lee County Parks and Recreation is also honoring National Parks and Recreation month by providing free parking.

“All we ask is participants pick up a piece of trash from the beach,” said Sheppard. “Registration isn’t required, but if you know you’re coming, let us know if you have a chance. Planet Fitness at 15501 Old McGregor Boulevard has a sign up sheet or you can simply contact Paddleboard SWFL at 826-2676.
