Former Beach child receives award

Army Reserve Sgt. Joe A. Villines, formerly of Fort Myers Beach, was the recipient of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award.

Villines, a broadcast journalist with 11 years of military service, is regularly assigned to the 103rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Fort Des Moines, Iowa.

He is the son of Jerry C. Villines, and Linda M. Villines, both of Fort Myers Beach. The sergeant graduated in 2009 from Norwalk High School, Iowa.
