Beach all-stars comes up short
The Fort Myers Beach Little League 9 & 10 All Stars may not have had a winning week at the District 18 tournament in San Carlos Park, but the dozen boys competed hard, either holding the lead or coming close in four of their six losing efforts.
Manager Joe Stahl said he couldn’t be prouder of the way the team worked through tough practices and the six games in six days tournament.
“I couldn’t be more proud of the hustle and sportsmanship the boys showed through a grueling 6 games in 6 days,” he said. “We have high hopes for the future of the Fort Myers Beach Little League program and, with hard work and dedication of our coaches, Coach Matt and I believe the sky is the limit.”
Coach Matt is Matt Russ.
“They grew up real quick this week,” Russ said.
The team suffered a loss a few games into the tournament when pitcher Noah Russ fractured his thumb when hit by a pitch.
Beach Little League is the smallest in District 18, often struggling to field teams in post-season tourneys. The boys who carried the local banner are:
Camden Brittingham; Nick Dobransky; Sam Ifrah; Kevin Lang; DeShawn McArthur; Dallas McPhee; John Roche; Noah Russ; Ulises Santiago; Cameron Sprole; Alex Walke and Cameron Walker.
