BOB PETCHER The Fort Myers Beach Town Council presented former Town Attorney Anne Dalton with the key to the town and a proclamation for her services.

Former Fort Myers Beach Town Attorney Anne Dalton received a key to the town and a proclamation certificate for her service as legal representative at the FMB Town Council meeting Monday.

Councilman Tom Babcock wrote the proclamation and expressed his gratitude to Dalton.

“I really feel the Town of Fort Myers Beach is losing a true friend,” he said. “I would like to designate you as an honorable islander, because I think we will see you that way forever.”

The proclamation summarized Dalton’s work in serving more than five years as town attorney to the council and Local Planning Agency as well as providing volunteer services to the town’s advisory committees. She was praised for her “demonstration of high ethical standards, respect for others and positive attitude” and received “gratitude for her meritorious service and best wishes for her continued success in her life’s pursuits.”

Dalton has re-focused her practice in downtown Fort Myers. During her town tenure, she served six councils and worked with eight managers including Marsha Segal-George, John Gucciardo, Rachel Lambert, David Sallee, Gary Parker, Sallee again, Scott Janke, Jack Green and, currently, Terry Stewart.

“In my world, this is an Academy Award, an Emmy Award and a Tony Award all rolled into one,” said Dalton. “I am truly grateful to the council, the advisory committees and my husband (Oliver).”

Although the town has hired a legal firm, Dalton has continued counseling the Town in transition issues, such as the Estero Island Beach Restoration Project which was approved to begin Monday by the council and Tuesday by the Lee County Board of County Commissioners.
