Father’s Day for Mother Nature: Beach clean-up on Fort Myers Beach June 20
The Young Democrats of Lee County are hosting a beach clean-up Sunday, June 20, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Fort Myers Beach, marking the two-month anniversary of the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig and subsequent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
“This event is a great way to highlight that our beaches are still beautiful,” said Jennifer McWhinnie, event coordinator. “Come help clean up Lee County beaches and preserve the beauty we have in our own backyards!”
All volunteers are to meet at the pier near Lynn Hall Park on the north end of the island to distribute materials and directions at 7:30 a.m.
Be sure to wear comfortable clothing, bring your family, and enjoy Father’s Day morning at the beach. Should you have any questions or concerns, contact Jennifer McWhinnie, at 418-2116 or email jmcwhinnie@lutgertinsurance.com.
