Bonita Bill’s hosts kids fishing event

2 min read

Bonita Bill’s Waterfront Caf at 702 Fishermans Wharf on San Carlos Island will be hosting a Kids’ Fishing Tournament on Saturday, June 26, on the Back Bay docks of the restaurant’s waterfront.

Local and visiting children from ages 3 to 15 have annually participated in this long-running event the weekend before the Fourth of July. Interested children are asked to register at 8:30 a.m. for the free event, which is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and end at noon.

A luncheon at Bonita Bill’s will follow the tournament. All proceeds will go to the Semmer Team’s Fourth of July fireworks show, scheduled to begin at dusk on Independence Day (Sunday, July 4). The Semmer family fireworks show is considered the finest and most popular in all of Southwest Florida and draws tens of thousands of people to the island and along the shoreline.

This is the 10th and final fund-raiser to help build the Fort Myers Beach fireworks display. The island community has held benefits with a Fiesta de Mayo at Yucatan Beach Stand; Mother’s Day Brunch at Bonita Bill’s; the FMB Chamber of Commerce’s Taste of the Beach at Bay Oaks, Bonita Bill’s Waterfront Shrimp Feast, the Mermaid Lounge’s Beach Party; Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille’s mojito special; the 22nd annual Fort Myers Beach Golf Club Tournament; and Bonita Bill’s annual Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast.
