Bay Walk hosts Shark Challenge Festival
The fourth annual Shark Challenge Festival will be held next weekend (Saturday, June 19 and Sunday, June 20) on Old San Carlos Boulevard from Third Street to the waterfront on Fort Myers Beach.
The shark fishing captain’s meeting will be held Friday night with food and free Landshark Lager at Nervous Nellie’s. The format will feature a ladies division, kids division, Big Bad Bull Calcutta and a Hammer Calcutta. There will be boat teams, kayak teams and beach teams.
Fishing action will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday with a party for “The Are You Man Enough” teams held afterwards.
The top five teams on Saturday will go head to head on Sunday in the
first ever “Are You Man Enough Sudden Death Shark Challenge.” The first team that passes the target amount of shark stops the competition, takes the big prize and the rest of the chips fall where they may. More than $25,000 in prizes are available.
The festival will feature live music, the ladies from Finlandia Vodka and more than 100 vendors are expected to be on site, including new boats on display. There will be a free kids fishing derby, family activities, a bounce house, shows and more.
Teams will send video verification of their shark catches to the tournament committee where they will be played for the crowds at Shark Fest on a 9 by 12 Jumbo-tron LED screen center stage from Production ToolBox, Inc.
