The Island Sand Paper has new editor/publisher
Publisher/ Editor Carl Conley recently announced the sale of The Island Sand Paper to Robert and Missy Layfield. The Sand Paper is a weekly newspaper which was founded by Conley in 2000.
The newspaper has focused on community news and commentary, circulating on and around Fort Myers Beach. The Layfields will now separate the positions held by Conley. Robert will assume the role of publisher and Missy will serve as editor.
“It has been ten great years,” said Conley. “There is no other business like the newspaper business, and I will miss it. I am sure the Layfields will continue serving the community defined by the motto of the newspaper, “By Islanders, For Islanders.” I will continue to operate the Purple Heart Theater to bring cultural events to the Beach but first a long vacation is in order.”
