Postal Food Drive is Saturday

1 min read

With the increased need for food and related supplies in Lee and Collier counties, National Association of Letter Carrier’s “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive on Saturday, May 8, is especially important. This is the day when letter carriers collect non-perishable food that has been left by mail boxes. Food collected in Lee County goes to the Harry Chapin Food Bank; in Collier County, food goes to Collier Harvest.

This is the 18th year for the world’s largest, single-day food drive; more than 10,000 letter carriers throughout the U.S. will be collecting donated food that day.

Northerners who are returning home prior to May 8 may drop off their contributions at any Post Office; the items will be saved and added to the May 8 contributions.

Individuals wishing to volunteer that day to help in the Ft Myers/Cape Coral area are asked to call 573-9638 for the Post Office or 334-7007 for the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
