1 min read

The Ostego Bay Oil Spill Co-Op will be providing two four-hour post emergency oil spill cleanup classes on Friday, May 21 at the Ostego Bay Foundation’s Marine Science Center. The first class for volunteers will take place from 8 a.m. to noon, while the second will be from 1 to 5 p.m.

The cost for each class is $25. Registration is required. Call 765-8101 for more information.

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Training Marine Oil Spill Response Workers under OSHA’s guidelines for post-emergency response operations, a minimum of four hours would be appropriate in most situations.

Supervisory/management personnel must receive at least 24 hours of initial training and one day of supervised field experience, according to Joanne Semmer, president of the Ostego Bay Oil Spill Co-Op.
